Editor & Owner
We've all been there. You've poured your heart and soul into your work and now it's time to edit. Your eyes are crossed and you can't see the errors.
I'll take it from here.
I love helping authors polish their work to make it the best it can be. As a writer myself, I understand the hesitation you feel in consulting an editor. You're worried you will lose your voice to the cold rules of the English language.
Not to worry! I view the author/editor dynamic as a partnership based on trust and understanding. I vow to edit your work while keeping your unique voice in tact. This is your work. Your voice.
I'm a writer and former meteorologist. I've worked as a weather forecaster for missile tests conducted by the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command, the Missile Defense Agency, and SpaceX, when it was still in its infancy. I also participated in severe weather field projects. Writing and editing skills were key components to my work.
After leaving my job to become a stay-at-home mom, my attention turned from the weather to my first love: the English language. I am fascinated by our weird, yet beautiful language. I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. As a writer, I have learned much about story structure, plot, and pacing.
Editing comes naturally to me because I can’t help but proofread as I read. Friends and family have long come to me to edit their work, so I thought why not do something I love for a living?
I've enjoyed editing academic work, art museum wall panels, blog posts, and business.
So here I am, ready to help you.

"Valerie helped me navigate the final editing of an academic book chapter with ease. I didn’t have to explain the nuances as she has experience with higher education materials. It was great to have her eyes on my work and it came out better because of it! Her background as a scientist is rare for a freelance editor, so I will be taking advantage of her skills with my next round of journal publications. Thanks Valerie!"
